About Time! Queening Exponentially

I know that I am about 2 weeks late... but I am working full time and pursuing a Master's so be patient! Miss USA 2016  is exponentially several degrees above awesome. Let us take a moment to discuss what makes her awesome.

1. She is Black- unapologetic. Most definitely oozing #BlackGirlMagic the definition of #BlackExcellence and that melanin is definitely popping. I wonder what color she wears> definitely not any shade that Neutorgena offers (No Shade) but not everyone has cool, orange or yellow undertones.... some of US have prominent red undertones!!! I digress.... Handclap to the makeup artist and creators out there that cater to ALL SHADES of BLACK.
2. Member of the US Army- Patriot and passionate about it. Some of my people are not the most supportive of African Americans fighting for a country that chose to enslave and continues to mentally enslave us as a people. My goodness! Cut the girl some slack- she has chosen to sacrifice her life for others- which is the ultimate sacrifice. Regardless of the past and present hurts of our people as a whole she has decided that at the end of the day... none of that matters... this country is her home and she will protect it.  Thank YOU!
3. Third but definitely not the least important. Ms. Barber is an ACTIVE Member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, INC. Established in the midst of racial injustice of the PWI campus of Butler University on Nov. 12, 1922. Last created, best designed. She has what it takes to uphold our Motto of "Greater Service, Greater Progress" She better WORK!!

So let us talk about her in ALL her crowing glory. Queening at the HIGHEST level. Never have I been so proud of my sisters as I was that day. Breaking stereotypes, speaking eloquently while remaining true to herself. Let us stop and appreciate her in that GOLD dress. Royal Blue and True Gold... best colors in life!. RHOyalty indeed.

My soror made me happy that I chose to wait and then commit to join an organization that prided itself on educating our youth and continues to make new strides towards perfection. My sister made me even prouder to be an educated black woman and for the record WE (black women) are the most educated class here in the good old U.S of A just to throw that out there.. google it.
So be sure that the next time you want to coin us a class- as loud, ghetto, angry ignorant and lazy you think of her and the millions around the globe that work 3x as hard as any man or woman of different ethnicity to prove that we have always have been and will continue to be QUEENS- elegance, grace, class, brains, beauty and strength unmatched by any.

They killed Sandra Bland and from her ashes Deshauna Barber rose!

In search of magic

She told me something was missing. Not a spark or a twinkle Not a light or a star Not a fire or an ember My magic was missing. The very thing that allowed me to create the me I wanted to be, had long gone missing He took it, I said, and I want it back! I want it all back. Slowly she felt it returning- but she had to figure how to use it again. Never again would she let someone steal her magic. Never again would she freely give of her magic. Never again would she take for granted the magic that was given to her as her prized possession. And when she said it- she felt it- the magic she once knew had returned and oh how it had grew. It was undeniable, unimaginable- she realized that the magic was her, she had never left- she had only forgotten due to his curse. She realized what she had forgotten; she had placed her magic safely on a shelf far, far away from what she called her heart. Hidden from all others, even herself- because she was too weak to control it ...

Sucking at life but #Queening

Unfortunately I am the person who can never make a decision right off. I have so many ideas and thoughts running through my head and there is never just one option. Why are there always so many options? There are options for everything and it kind of freaks me out. I am that person standing at the crossroad with basically 3 other directions to go besides the one you came from. Yeah that is where I am in life right now. I want to go everywhere and do everything besides what I have already done. At least going back is not an option and neither is staying where I am... I have to decide on something at sometime. Even the greatest of leaders suffer from indecision. I am afraid that my indecisiveness might lead into inaction which is unacceptable on any front. That is why I impulse decide usually- due to indecisiveness... just make a decision already! Done. So what is it that I cannot make a decision on? Well right now... this living situation of mine. It's time to move from my apa...
